Educating and empowering: AFE’s commitment to the continued education for the floral industry

The American Floral Endowment (AFE) is pleased to announce that it is awarding $63,990 in Educational Grants to 19 organizations in 2023-24. This funding will help these organizations host conferences, teach students and educators about the floral industry, offer programs such as greenhouse training and florist certification classes, promote sustainability practices, and more.

AFE’s Educational Grants represent an ongoing commitment to the future of the floral industry. By supporting education at all levels, AFE is helping to ensure that the industry has the latest skills, knowledge, programs, and technology it needs to succeed.

2023-24 Educational Grants Awarded to:

  • America in Bloom – America in Bloom Educational Symposium
  • American Institute of Floral Design (AIFD) – Bringing FFA to AIFD Symposium Orlando, FL 2024
  • American Society for Horticultural Science – Innovation in Horticulture
  • Black Girl Florists – Black Girl Florists Conference
  • BOLD Future Farmers of America (FFA) – Floral Design as an Intercurricular Course
  • Clemson University – S.T.E.M. it Up: Everything You Need to Know to Get Your Floriculture Curriculum in Bloom
  • University of Florida – Greenhouse Training Online Course
  • Great Lakes Floral Association – Great Lakes Floral & Event Expo
  • Mississippi State University – Installation of Rainwater Collection System
  • Mississippi State University Coastal Research and Extension Center – Extension Professional Florist Certification Program
  • Mississippi State University Coastal Research and Extension Center – 2024 National Floriculture Forum Conference
  • The Ohio State University / 12 Other Universities – E-Gro Alerts, Blogs, and Training Future Floriculturists
  • The Ohio State University – Fert, Dirt, and Squirt – Nutritional Monitoring of Greenhouse Crops (portion of grant funded by the Christian B. Nissen Research Fund)
  • Prairie Girl Flowers – The Sustainable Flowers Project
  • Seed Your Future – Green Career Week
  • Society of American Florists – All Industry Session – Sustainability + Floriculture
  • South Dakota Florist Association – South Dakota Florist Convention
  • Utah Cut Flower Farm Association – Utah Cut Flower Farm Association Winter Conference
  • Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Florists Association (WUMFA) – WUMFA Annual Convention

Educational programs like these are the fuel that drives our industry forward. AFE is excited to support these organizations through the 2023-24 Educational Grants. From national conventions to online courses, AFE’s Educational Grants are helping to shape the future of floral.
