Princess Benedikte to visit Flora Dania joint stand at IPM Essen

Danish ornamental industry celebrates 40th anniversary with Royal presence

The Danish ornamental industry is set to mark its 40th anniversary in 2024 and will be celebrating this milestone at the IPM Essen, which commemorates this milestone as well. Flora Dania, the Danish industry organization for potted plant nurseries, will host an anniversary event at their joint stand (6H28) in hall 6 with the attendance of Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte of Denmark.

This year, more than 22 growers will exhibit their ornamental assortment on the 300 m2 stand, showcasing a wide range of products from Denmark. Since the beginning of IPM, Flora Dania has consistently exhibited with a diverse group of growers, presenting a spectrum of high-quality products emblematic of Denmark's renowned horticultural expertise.

Despite a marginal decrease in overall turnover for Danish growers IN 2023 compared to the year before, Flora Dania remains optimistic about future prospects and is looking forward to exhibiting at IPM 2024.

Fortunately, some green houseplants continue to maintain a stable sales trajectory.

And when looking at the 4th quarter, the sales numbers for Christmas cultures were even better than expected, compared to the sales performance observed in the preceding year.

Looking further into 2024, some growers experience a greater demand for flowering plants. Planned orders are fulfilled 100%", which means growers are meeting their budgets, mirroring an overall positive market. In general, Flora Dania hears from the growers that customers want to make reservations to secure goods for spring that were in short supply in 2023.

From the perspective of the wholesaler, Danish products can face challenges attributed to the low currency rates of the surrounding Scandinavian countries. "It is mostly the low currency rate of the SEK and NOK that can challenge the prices a bit. Flora Dania remains vigilant in navigating these market dynamics, ensuring resilience and adaptability in the face of economic fluctuations."
