Freshwater provides systems that operate on the basis of ionization. Aad van der Starre explains that ionization is a physical phenomenon. "Our devices use frequencies that remove pathogens from the water. We also dissolve the biofilm in the water, thereby eliminating a breeding ground for algae and pathogens."
The growers who use the company's systems are initially surprised but then very enthusiastic, says the inventor. "Two of our many customers, eggplant grower Kwekerij PandA and hydrangea grower Vollering Hydrangea, had a highly contaminated algae-rich basin. An initial sample revealed the presence of various pathogens in the water and a lot of algae. Then, we installed our devices. After 10 days, we took a new sample, which revealed a drastic reduction in the amount of pathogens. The algae in the basin were visibly dead."
The major advantage is that there is no longer any biofilm in the main and drip lines. As a result, there is also no longer a breeding ground for pathogens. "It has been demonstrated multiple times that the use of Freshwater's devices eliminates the need for hydrogen peroxide. Freshwater's devices clean the water in a natural way, so there is no need for chemicals."
Freshwater and Freshlight are active in the horticulture industry with ionization-based technology.
