Join us for a Women in Horticulture interview with Leigh Geschwill, one of the owners of F&B Farms and Nursery (a family-owned and operated business in Oregon, United States). Hear her journey of nurturing a family business where she balances the roles of business owner and industry leader.
Hear her thoughts on developing professional relationships, the dynamics of a family-owned business, advocacy work, and the evolving horticulture industry.
In addition to operating a family-owned business, Leigh has a track record of leadership. Her leadership journey began with her local Oregon Association of Nurseries (OAN) chapter and led to her becoming the OAN board president.
Today, she is board president of the Horticultural Research Institute (HRI), AmericanHort's education foundation. HRI works to fund industry research and scholarships, intending to ensure a thriving industry for years to come.
Leigh is passionate about advocating for the industry on a local, state, and national level. She has made trips to her state capital and Washington, D.C., to speak with representatives about issues affecting her business and the green industry.
F&B Farms and Nursery was founded in 1997 by Leigh, her husband Fred, brother-in-law Bill, and sister-in-law Heidi. After wearing different hats over the years, today, Leigh has primary responsibility for sales, forecasting, and logistics. When Leigh is not working, she pursues hobbies, including crafting, baking, scuba diving, ballet, and travel.
