According to January figures, plant and flower prices in Kazakhstan surged by 8.2% over the year.
The Karaganda region saw the most significant rise at 41.5%, followed by Almaty (18.1%) and Astana (14.5%). While prices remained stable in Aktobe, Jambyl, and Zhetysu. Prices dropped in Pavlodar (0.9%) and Ulytau (6.1%).
Internationally popular roses were selling at an average of 1.9 euros per stem at agricultural markets in Kazakhstan in January. They were the most expensive in the Abay region at 2.8 euros and the lowest in Shymkent at only 1.2 euros.
Kazakhstan harvested 17.6 million flowers in 2022 across 13 regions. Financial investments in flower cultivation and floricultural seed production amounted to 1,107,500 euros for January to December 2023, primarily allocated to the Turkestan and Karaganda regions.
As International Women's Day approaches, analysts have reviewed Kazakhstan's flower trade with EAEU countries in 2023. The exports mainly consisted of fresh-cut flowers and buds of roses, carnations, chrysanthemums, grafted or ungrafted roses, orchids, hyacinths, daffodils, and tulips at various growth stages. Imports from the EAEU to Kazakhstan included similar categories.
