International Women's Day (March 8) is around the corner, meaning busy times for many flower growers. Also, for La Plazoleta, the run-up to this holiday has been busy, particularly this year, as UK Mother's Day is being celebrated on March 10. Fortunately, it has been beneficial, and sales expectations have been met, reports Pablo Bazzani, General Manager at this Colombian flower farm.

La Plazoleta specializes in high-quality alstroemerias and summer flowers, and according to Bazzani, their products received positive feedback in markets where the celebration is prominent among consumers and importers, so in countries like the Czech Republic, Poland, and Russia. "Following a relatively calm Valentine's Day, our production levels were optimal for meeting the increased demand and catering to our customers' requirements."
One notable challenge this year, Bazzani mentions, was the overlap with Mother's Day in the UK, which fell within the same timeframe. This year, UK Mother's day is celebrated ion March 10. "During the weeks in the run-up to these holidays, we experienced a 14% increase in demand." Despite this, the farm managed to meet the sales expectations. "This was also thanks to the favorable weather conditions in Colombia, characterized by clear skies and sunshine."
Overall, it has been a successful period for La Plazoletta, and Bazzani is pleased with the results. "We look forward to continued growth and success in the coming months."
