During a plenary session, Russian State Duma Deputy Oleg Nilov claimed that $6 billion from flower purchases on March 8th in Russia had effectively flowed to the Netherlands, which supports the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF).
"Six billion dollars of our men's money for these flowers leaked to Holland. Where is Holland directing this money... to UAF shells," said Nilov, suggesting Russia could grow tulips and roses domestically.
On March 1, Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren announced the country would allocate €250 million to a Czech initiative to purchase artillery shells for Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the country expects to receive €2 billion in military aid during 2024, along with defence assistance for the next ten years, under a bilateral security agreement with the Netherlands.
