James Durr passed away

Burlington County lost a longtime farmer. RIP Jim Durr. Prayers for his family. It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of lifetime farmer James Durr at the age of 69. Jimmy passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, at his home in North Hanover, NJ.

Jimmy was born and raised on a dairy farm in Chesterfield, NJ. He attended and graduated from Northern Burlington High School in 1972. He moved to North Hanover and began his agricultural career with flowers, from harvesting wildflowers and vines to perennials to annuals. Jimmy worked with diligence and determination to become one of the nation's largest floral growers. He added vegetable production to his farm almost 20 years ago. He owns multiple farms throughout central New Jersey and Virginia. Jimmy was one of the largest agricultural employers in our region. James Durr was active within his community, serving as Mayor, as a member on multiple committees, and was currently on the North Hanover Planning and Zoning Board. He had a tremendous and generous heart, supporting many charities and organizations throughout his career.

James Durr is survived by his brothers, Larry and David, his wife, Lisa, his children Casey Durr Nobel. Jimmy, Danny, Jake, and Zachary, and his grandchildren, and their families.

A Celebration of Life was held on April 7, 2024, at James & Lisa Durr's Residence in North Hanover.

The Burlington County Board of Agriculture sends sincere condolences to his family, friends, and the community. Rest in Peace, Jimmy. We'll close the gate.
