Ten Have Plant opts for smart plastic-free packaging

Ten Have Plant is concerned with the issue of sustainability. As underlined by the company's s energy-efficient cultivation which involves the use of geothermal energy, LED, CHP, natural crop protection methods, and water conservation efforts. Additionally, Ten Have Plant has been focused on packaging with a lower environmental impact, resulting in a new smart plastic-free packaging concept.

In their quest for a more sustainable packaging solution for Campanulas, Ten Have Plant reached out to Royal FloraHolland. Together, they embarked on a journey that resulted in a sustainable, innovative packaging solution.

Vincent ten Have, Director of Ten Have Plant, says: "For our Campanulas, we have been using single-use plastic plant trays with a cardboard collar for plant protection for some time. While this has worked well, we wanted to explore ways to reduce plastic usage. With Royal FloraHolland we developed with a beautiful sustainable concept. The box is made of corrugated cardboard (100% FSC) containing an 8-hole cardboard 'easy-out' interior in which we can place the Campanula. Due to clever design, the plants can be easily and safely removed from the box. This is very convenient and pleasant for the customer. Additionally, the box includes a removable display for optimal presentation on the shop floor. The loading remains the same as in a tray: five boxes with eight plants each on a CC layer."

Ten Have Plant is currently offering this new packaging solution for Campanulas under the Decorum label. The first boxes are available since week 8 of this year.
