With all of the rain that's come in the past couple of months, drought conditions across much of Nebraska are much better than they were last year. In some cases, it's been too much rain, and for some farmers, it's made life a little easier.
At this time last year, 86 percent of the state was in some form of drought compared to only six percent today, according to the Drought Monitor. Most recently, at the end of April when tornadoes hit nearby.
"Come to find out there were three and half inches of hail we had here we got hit at the neighbors, tulips they were almost done for the season, so they were all shredded in the field, we had a lot of damage on our decorations," said Rippe.
While that was unexpected for Rippe, leaving her with fewer tulips to sell this season, it's a lot easier to deal with than last year's drought conditions. "The plants do much better when they're watered by mother nature," said Rippe. But in some areas like Wahoo, they've gotten too much water.
