Ben van der Burg takes Decorum growers through digital developments at vendor event

Sustainability, data, commerce, market intelligence, and networking were the central themes on Wednesday, June 26, during the traditional sales event from Decorum.

The 60 or so attendees, particularly the commercial representatives from Decorum growers, listened attentively to Lisa Bakker (Sustainability Manager) and Sven van Dorp (Senior Buyer), both from Hamiplant, who shared their views on sustainability on behalf of the Dutch Flower Group. Besides highlighting several interesting trends, they also offered a glimpse into the future, discussing what is coming to the sector in both the long and medium term and what it means for growers.

After addressing sustainability, the event quickly moved on to commerce. Edwin Erwich from jem-id gave a presentation on the possibilities with Hortiheat, a commercial marketing tool for floriculture.

The third block focused on market information. Daniƫl Pinkse from Royal FloraHolland provided insights into trends and developments in various market segments, including florist, retail, and online sales.

After a pizza break, the stage was set for Ben van der Burg. Besides being a former professional ice skater and now a digital entrepreneur, Ben, the son of a flower grower, is familiar with the floriculture sector. His story contained many links to "our world" and also took us through various digital developments.

Decorum looks back on a great day and is already looking forward to the next edition in October.
