Growing interest in wedding bouquet made of dried flowers

Despite a decline in consumer interest in dried flowers, there are still growing markets in the dry flower market. One of these is the market for bridal bouquets, according to the Dry Flowers Market Monitor 2024.

Dry flowers versus artificial flowers
If we compare the overall market development of dry flowers with that of artificial flowers, we see a big contrast in the development of the popularity of both flower types. While consumer (and therefore market) interest in artificial flowers has grown strongly over the past few years, the market for dried flowers actually shows a decline.

One would expect interest in dried flowers to be fairly solid and stable, as dried flowers have a wide variety of uses. For instance, consumers use dried flowers for bouquets, but also for in wreaths, in glassware, in bottles, cloches, jars, tubes, framed, on wall circles, on canvas or in candles, as wall decorations, in floral foam, or as craft materials to make cards and the like.

But almost all forms of dry flower processing show a contraction in the year 2023 compared to two years earlier. Bouquet, for instance, records a 52% decline. And dried flowers in a bottle, pot, glass or bell jar show an even sharper decline.

An exception is the bridal bouquet. On the contrary, the bridal bouquet is again experiencing an increase in demand. The online search volume of bridal bouquets made of dried flowers has increased by 39% in two years.

Dryflower
Looking at which types of dried flowers and dried plants people search for, we also see positive market opportunities. For instance, interest in gypsophila rose sharply in the past few years. However, pampus is still the most popular dried flower.
