Poland: GlobalG.A.P. floriculture summit to take place in Warsaw on 10-12 September

The GLOBALG.A.P. Summit 2024 will take place on 10–12 September in the Polish capital Warsaw. This year's summit – titled 'Shaping the future of farming together' – will focus on the latest developments in the fields of food safety and sustainability.

According to the summit organization, this three-day event's technical content is cross-sectoral, meaning that it covers current issues relevant not only to agriculture, but also to floriculture, aquaculture, and the fruit and vegetable sector. "As a consequence, we expect there to be synergies and new insights between the various sectors without losing sight of the general agricultural situation. After all, what matters is to overcome the challenges of the future together," said Sarah von Fintel, Key Account Manager at Global G.A.P. "A central issue for producers is to get a handle on increasing statutory requirements and growing consumer expectations, which subject market statements to ever-closer scrutiny. At the same time, the producers should not lose sight of efficiency and productivity issues."

Presentation of the Changemaker Award
A range of different sessions with networking breaks and panel discussions will take place at the GlobalG.A.P. Summit 2024, including 'Forward-thinking floriculture: Targeted solutions for global producers'.Conference attendees will discuss current issues in the floriculture sector and how GlobalG.A.P. can support standards and contribute to solutions there. An exchange on stakeholders' experiences with certification solutions seeks to provide key impetus for enhancing standards.

"We remain convinced that our standards offer a long-term, scientifically sound basis for the producers. What's more, the implementation of secure, socially and ecologically responsible production methods remains a core topic," said Leonie Fischer, spokesperson for the company. The summit in Warsaw additionally offers industry guests from agriculture, floriculture, aquaculture, and the fruit and vegetable sector the opportunity to engage with other key topics such as greenwashing, labels, and legislation.

This year's GlobalG.A.P. Summit will also see the presentation of the very first Changemaker Award. Producers, certification bodies, and retail companies can submit entries. Innovative practices that demonstrate a special degree of responsibility will be recognized. The winners of the Changemaker Award will be announced to the in-person attendees of the GlobalG.A.P. Summit. Three winners will be presented with their prizes at the evening event on September 10.
