The Vogelaer project is expanding the existing geothermal plant with a second project. VB Geo Projects is currently busy preparing and realizing the above-ground geothermal installations and underground transmission lines. The Geothermal Vogelaer 2 project includes the addition of a new well, which significantly increases the plant's capacity.
In recent weeks, VB has been preparing the injection pipelines, which will be laid from inside to the new source. These pipes are crucial for efficiently pumping the used water back into the earth, a process essential for the sustainability of the geothermal system.
Innovative water treatment solutions
A key component of the new plant is the blowdown tank, which collects water from the filters during draining for filter changes and pumps this water back into the system. This blowdown tank plays an essential role in the reuse of water and ensures that the system can pump all the extracted water back into the ground.
Additionally, the degasser tank is another critical component, with its installation currently in progress. This tank helps remove water, oil, and dissolved gases from the water, contributing to the overall efficiency of the geothermal plant.
Since the gas being pumped often contains moisture, it is passed through a gas dryer. The gas dryer ensures that the gas is dried and suitable for applications such as Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems.
Geothermal heat for new customers and residential area
The expansion with Geothermal Heat Vogelaer 2 will allow the supply of geothermal heat to new customers, including a new residential area on Orberlaan in Monster. This expansion means that, in addition to existing customers, six new customers can also benefit from sustainable geothermal heat.
Work on the new facilities is expected to be completed in 2024.
