NL: CO2 waste processor heads to Agriport A7 growers

Waste management company Renewi is producing green gas through a large-scale digestion facility in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The resulting green CO2 is liquefied and transported to Agriport A7, where growers use it in greenhouses to enhance the growth of tomatoes and peppers. ECW Energy and Renewi have entered into a multi-year strategic partnership for the supply of this CO2.

Despite this agreement, ECW is still seeking additional CO2 sources and hopes to finalize more such agreements. For growers in the greenhouse horticulture sector, CO2 is essential, especially as they increasingly rely on geothermal energy. Unlike energy production through combined heat and power (CHP) systems, geothermal energy does not emit CO2, necessitating the sourcing of CO2 from other origins to ensure optimal greenhouse production.

In the photo below, published on LinkedIn, Gijs van Diepen from ECW Energy and Joop Suurmeijer from Renewi are seen shaking hands.
