A significant portion of the auction house of Royal FloraHolland on the Honselersdijk side, known as the Dijkzijde, is being demolished. The sale of part of the land is under consideration. Whether housing will ever be built there remains uncertain, according to an update from AD.
Regarding the sale of land, there is talk of 100,000 square meters. Plans are currently being developed. Additionally, a section of the older auction building along Burgemeester Elsenweg, around the corner from Dijkzijde, is being demolished. The auction house also wants to dispose of land around the World Horti Center, where the Flora Campus is to be developed. Approval from the members' council and an agreement with the buyer, the municipality of Westland, are not yet in place.
Hub Naaldwijk
David van Mechelen, CFO at Royal FloraHolland, recently shared a column about the plans for the Naaldwijk hub. In his column, he wrote:
"I realize that these plans and developments may lead to additional questions. However, the plans will not be realized overnight; it will take a number of years. (...) The overall goal is clear: a future-proof hub with affordable services, where we can work and do business more efficiently together in a nicer and more modern environment."
Pyramid Building
The demolition hammer has already struck the Pyramid Building. A buyer for the land has been found, and they intend to develop a new logistics building of approximately 16,000 to 18,000 m².
In addition to construction for its own business operations, the buyer plans to create space in the new building for various ornamental horticulture parties. The goal is to have the building directly connected to the so-called product street for "smooth and safe logistics." The land is currently being further prepared for construction, with delivery scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024.
