For almost two decades, Kwekerij Tass has been growing the Calathea Crocata Tassmania, their specialty. Since two years, they are not only the largest but also the only professional grower of this plant in the world. Ronald van der Knaap is proud of the plants from their nursery, which even owes its name to the Crocata. Together with his brother Rob, he runs the nursery.

With its striking yellow-orange flower, the originally tropical Calathea Crocata Tassmania looks special. Ronald says: "It is quite a challenge to grow the plant, but for consumers it is an easy plant to maintain. We are the only professional grower in the world who grows this Crocata. Of course, we are quite proud of that. Years ago, it all started with the Crocata, but today we also have other types of plants in our greenhouse."
One of the newer plants in the nursery is Calathea Fusion White. About five years ago, this plant became part of the family of Kwekerij Tass. "This Calathea is a so-called prayer plant, and the leaves look like they are dyed as the colors that go from dark green to light pink," says Ronald. "We are the only European nursery that has this Calathea in its range."

Ronald is proud of their new addition, the Mikado plant. Its official name is Syngonanthus Chrysanthus 'Mikado'. "We only recently added the Mikado to our range, it is a nice little plant with straight, thin stems and a gold-colored flower," he says.
