From 1 October this year, it will be possible to update the current weekly prices for plants during the week. A 24-hour time lock comes into effect each time the weekly list is updated, during which no further updates are possible. This offers growers the opportunity to respond to market conditions more dynamically, making it easier for buyers to purchase at the right prices.
Rene Vellekoop, purchasing director at Hamiplant, said: "We welcome the development that growers can update the current weekly prices during the week. This means far less administrative effort is needed to update prices, as well as less contact with suppliers day to day, compared to how offers and promotions work. Updates are processed automatically and uploaded to our system and webshop. This in turn ensures speed and efficiency."
Hamiplant was one of the parties involved in meetings on this matter and how it might work best. They were therefore the first to test the updates option in partnership with their loyal suppliers, The Orchid Growers. "The trial is going well. The changes needed on our side have been minimal, it was all included in the latest version of the API in terms of functionality. The weekly price updates option appeared on our systems almost immediately, and was visible to our customers through the webshop."
Rene: "Digitisation is the only way to comply with the whole legal and regulatory framework moving forward. Reading up on the mandatory information in our sector and being able to access the range and stock ensures everything flows properly. This applies to every link in the supply chain."
Hamiplant is fully integrated with Floriday through its API link. "Implementation has been a long journey which also demanded a lot from our co-workers. Data management must be totally spot on and managed every day by both growers and buyers. With that in place, processes end up running much more smoothly. Transactions now all go through Floriday for any growers who want to work with Floriday and are technically able to do so. This has been a major step forward towards digitization, where we have worked closely with Floriday."
From October 1, it will be possible for all growers to update prices once every 24 hours in the current week. Several growers and buyers are currently testing this. The software suppliers are also aware of this change.
