NL: The power of service and preventive maintenance

With over 35 years of experience, Luiten Greenhouses is a well-known player in the greenhouse farming sector. Their expertise enables the specialists to advise and support customers with all their greenhouse and screen installation questions. Service and maintenance play an important role in doing so.

A strategic focus on maintenance allows companies to stay ahead of problems, save costs and ensure business continuity. After all, prevention is always better than cure.

In close contact with growers
To respond to this seriously and decisively, Luiten Greenhouses set up a separate department for service and maintenance about three years ago. The department is managed by service coordinator Joost Gordijn. "Being able to serve customers quickly is very important. There's a lot to be gained from focussing on maintenance."

Luiten Greenhouses' specialists are in close contact with growers. "We listen to their wishes and problems, and offer tailor-made solutions." Customers are regularly contacted personally by phone or e-mail, for example in the event of a storm. "This enables us to be prepared and ensure that our customers never have to wait needlessly."

Annual maintenance agreement
Luiten Greenhouses works with annual agreements for service and maintenance. "This allows us to accurately schedule preventive maintenance. By identifying problems early on, expensive repairs and replacements can be avoided. Small repairs and adjustments are often considerably cheaper than fixing major breakdowns."

If more growers deal with aintenance in a planned way, this will prevent acute problems, Joost stresses. Everything eventually needs maintenance. "If something unexpectedly breaks, the question is of course always: 'Can that be fixed quickly?' Of course, but it is even better to be ahead of this point. That helps to avoid stress, but often also saves time and money."
