The Department of Agriculture Leh took a step towards advancing local farming practices by organizing a one-day Farmer Exposure Tour for farmers from the Durbuk and Nyoma blocks. The event, held on September 6, was inaugurated by Chief Agriculture Officer Thinles Dawa and aimed to introduce the region's farmers to new agricultural technologies and practices.
The tour provided participants with a comprehensive look at several leading research and agricultural institutions. Key stops included the Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), the Himalayan Mountaineering and Adventure Research Institute (HMAARI), the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKAUST) – Stakna, and the Floriculture Farm Thiksay. These institutions were selected for their pioneering work in agriculture and their potential to offer practical benefits to local farmers.
Technical experts from these centers shared valuable insights into advanced farming techniques, focusing on strategies to enhance agricultural productivity. The information presented aimed to equip farmers with the latest knowledge and tools necessary for improving their production methods.
