'Flower sales plummet in Kerala after Onam cancellation'

The cancellation of Onam celebrations by the Kerala govt due to the Wayanad landslides has significantly impacted flower markets across southern Tamil Nadu, including key regions like Madurai, Dindigul, and Kanyakumari. Despite bountiful harvest this year, traders have reported a steep decline in demand due to the muted festivities in Kerala, which is a vital market for flowers from these areas.

Thovalai, one of the largest flower suppliers to Thiruvananthapuram and surrounding districts in Kerala, has experienced severe losses. Flower prices, which spiked earlier in summer, have now plummeted during what is typically the peak selling season.
