A Kingsport business is looking to brighten people's day this week — one flower at a time.
Downtown Flowers and Gifts is participating in this year's "Petal It Forward" event on Wednesday.
This is the store's third time taking part in the national event, which focuses on distributing flowers to the community.
"I don't think Petal It Forward could have come at a better time for our area this year," Amy Roberts, owner of Downtown Flowers said in a recent release. "We've seen East Tennessee ravaged by the hurricane over the previous weeks and watched area residents pull together to help one another, but also witnessed the effects it has had on the morale of our local people."
Roberts said she has seen the impact delivering flowers has had on people, especially following the recent devastation in the region from flooding.
