Italian breeder and young plant supplier Lazzeri is breeding poinsettias for more than 25 years now. Their assortment is constantly increasing and have been praised by several awards year after year. Also for next year, growers will have access to new varieties which growers can already see in real life in the Netherlands on October 31 and November 1.

Complete range of reds
Currently, Lazzeri's poinsettia assortment consists of 30 varieties and according to the Lazzeri team, it now represents a wide and complete assortment of poinsettias. "In recent years, we have introduced several new varieties in particular the recent reds Aida, Carmen, and Maestro, which allows us to offer a complete range of reds, both in terms of flowering induction and type of growth and different climatic conditions."

Novelties for next season
For next season the Carmen Red, which is having great success, the team explains, is joined by the Carmen Pink. Then, for the Superba family they have developed an improvement in the Superba Marble Impr. And the big news for 2025, they continue, is a very special plant with an exotic name. Curious? 100% made in Italy
Lazzeri's poinsettias are 100% made in Italy, which means that the entire production process, from breding, selection, elite, mother plants and rooting are all done in Italy. And all of this is done while being done with a Global Gap certification. "We are proud of our poinsettia's Italian roots." All their young plants are being produced in Sabaudia, 100 km South of Rome. "At this location, we have the absolute best and ideal light and climate conditions during the whole year. Compared to most other companies, we still believe in the Regional production."
Awards
"Another thing that makes us particularly proud are several international awards that confirm that we are on the right track", the Lazzeri team says. "Among the many prizes obtained, we were very pleased with the last one, obtained in January 2024, for the fifth consecutive year, at the award ceremony organised by Glastuinbouw Nederland & Royal Flora Holland, where 'Alaska', a pure white variety unique in its performance, was the winner. These awards and the positive feedback from producers motivate us to invest more and more in this plant."
Poinsettia Trials in the Netherlands
Eager to see the poinsettias in real liefe? On Thursday October 31 and Friday November 1, Lazzeri is participating in the Poinsettia Trials, organised together with Beekenkamp Plants, Dümmen Orange, Florensis, and Volmary. The trials are taking place at The Mastergrowers, Harteveldlaan 18a, 2675 LE, Honselersdijk.
