Photo Report: IFPA 2024 - Flower Companies

Although the demand for plants and flowers has not returned to pandemic-era levels, US retailers have recognized the opportunities in this segment, leading to renewed interest. It's no surprise exhibitors of the IFPA Global Produce Show had a successful event last week.

Now that the show has concluded, the carpets have been rolled up, the flowers have been rewrapped (or donated), and the flights have departed, we are here with the IFPA Global Produce Show 2024 photo report. Growers and importers gathered in Atlanta to showcase their offerings to retailers, while horticultural suppliers seized the chance to discuss new developments and potential expansions in between meetings.

It was easy to stop and smell the roses at the tradeshow, where flowers were displayed in a rainbow of colors. Additionally, new products were introduced, such as plant terrariums, which have already found success in Europe and are now being introduced to the U.S. market. Other emerging trends include flowers with lush, leafy aesthetics like ranunculus, peonies, and even poppies, which boast extended shelf lives.

While the North American industry still heavily relies on holidays, efforts are underway to promote year-round purchases by making flowers and plants an essential part of home decor and a staple on grocery lists. Alongside vibrant displays, neutral-colored blooms continue to hold a place in the market, possibly reflecting the 'sad beige' interior trend.

More than 140 companies participated in the three-day event, which featured one day of knowledge sessions followed by two days of tradeshow exhibitions. This year's event took place in Atlanta, and next year it will be hosted in Orlando, Florida, followed by a return to Anaheim, California. After a final edition in Atlanta, the event will continue to alternate between Florida and California.
