From October 18th-20th, the China Flower Industry Conference (CFIC) was held in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. Around 300 companies had a booth there. In the exhibition hall, phalanopsis, Anthurium, Ilex verticillata, roses, and hydrangea were on display, as were the imported tulip and protea cynaroides which attracted much attention. Additionally, conference visitors could attend two seminars. Many others joined the show to connect with potential business partners.
People from the Kunming Flower Auction Center, China Flower Association, Flower Variety Protection Center, and Social media influencers shared their opinions on the event. According to them, the flower market has to deal with reducing prices and demand. Additionally, growers increasingly sell their products directly to supermarkets rather than via traders.
A striking thing this year was that the Bangkok Tropical Plants show coincided with CFIC this year, which brought around 40 vendors from Thailand to Wu Xi. Further, tropical plant suppliers from Taiwan, Malaysia, and South America also joined the show. Various Platycerium wallichii Hook, Philodendron, Anthurium, and Monstera were showcased.
