Italian floriculture mission to Serbia a "great success"

A three-day event dedicated to the exchange of experiences and the promotion of collaboration between the floriculture sectors of Serbia and Italy with "strong" interest and participation from Serbian businesses.

The business mission in Serbia, focused on the floriculture sector and organized by ICE Agency, in agreement with ANVE (National Association of Exporting Nurseries) and in collaboration with SLHS (Serbian Landscape Horticulture Society), officially began yesterday, October 21. The mission aims to foster commercial contacts between selected professionals and Italian nursery companies in the sector.

The event features the participation of 11 companies from various regions of Italy, with a three-day program. The first day was dedicated to the arrival of the companies and two planned visits in Belgrade: the Vidikovac Garden Center and the Urban Garden.

The second day was devoted to B2B meetings, with over 45 Serbian companies and about 75 representatives from the entire local floriculture sector (production of ornamental trees and shrubs, rose nurseries, landscape architecture firms, companies specializing in fertilizers and related products). The meetings took place at the ICE office in Belgrade.

During the opening of the event, the director of the ICE Agency in Belgrade, Antonio Ventresca, emphasized how Serbia, which already imports a significant portion of its nursery stock from Italy, represents a market with great growth potential. Italian companies, thanks to their flexibility and innovation, are ready to meet these new challenges. He also highlighted how this meeting serves to strengthen dialogue and create long-term trusting relationships. Following this, there were formal greetings from the Representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Resources, as well as speeches by the President of the National Association of Exporting Nurseries and the President and Vice-President of the Serbian Landscape Horticulture Society.

Luigi Pagliani, president of the National Association of Exporting Nurseries, presented the distribution of nursery crops across Italy, taking into account the country's different climate zones and the impact of climate change, emphasizing the international collaborations that his members have developed in recent years.

The mission also includes a visit to the city of Krusevac, where they will tour five nurseries in the Veliki Siljegovac district. These selected nurseries are significant producers of the propagation of deciduous trees and shrubs (both vegetative and generative reproduction), container and open-field production, and perennial plant production.

The initiative aims to develop integrated floriculture production chains between Italy and Serbia, promoting the transfer of skills and techniques and enhancing the ability of companies from both countries to present themselves more strongly in international markets.
