NL: Royal FloraHolland to auction all plant clocks on November 21

After the experience with the first central plant clock on 14 March and several pilots last summer, Royal FloraHolland is now taking the next step with Central Auctioning. From Thursday 21 November, the remaining local plant clocks of Aalsmeer, Naaldwijk, and Rijnsburg will be merged into six central plant clocks.

The market looks forward to this move
"Central Auctioning provides a fairer playing field for auctioning our products. We become less dependent on the different auction times per auction location, which means we expect a more even pricing for Hydrangeas" says Erik van der Valk of The Mastergrowers.

Stefan Hoek, buyer at Van der Plas Flowers and Plants, also sees the advantages of Central Auctioning. "By applying Central Auctioning, I can manage my team better and this will create much more overview and peace of mind for my team," says Stefan.

"Not only a big step for Royal FloraHolland and its growers and buyers, but also for our own auctioneers," adds Arie Bezemer. He is Team Manager of Operations Dealmaking Plants at Royal FloraHolland and is supervising the transition. "A lot of energy has gone into preparations. We will make sure we are completely ready on 21 November" he says.

Starting points central plant clocks
The central plant clocks start at 06:30. At the beginning of the week, this is usually 6 central plant clocks, and on Thursday/Friday 5 clocks. Because all plants are on order picking at all hubs before the switch to Central Auctioning, Royal FloraHolland switches completely to Random Grower lots. This is the fairest form of drawing. Furthermore, CCs will be auctioned at the front of the auction schedule.

Working method unchanged
As before, for plants weekly, Royal FloraHolland continues to steer as much as possible towards equal finishing time for all plant clocks by shifting auction groups. There is also still a rotating auction schedule per clock per week.

New central plant clocks
Local clocks A14, A16, A17 (Aalsmeer) and N12 and N13 (Naaldwijk) expire. At Rijnsburg, the auction groups of plants will expire. All supplies will be combined on 6 central plant clocks. The layout will remain as much as possible the same as at present.
