NL: New Rosen Tantau varieties receive ADR Awards

Rosen Tantau's Bees Paradise Rose Ivory receives the ADRĀ® quality mark 2024. This compactly growing small shrub rose not only convinced Rosen Tantau, but also the auditors of the rose novelty test. What makes this variety stand out? "It has healthy foliage well into the fall. The flowering is long-lasting and shows good rain tolerance. The dark yellow stamens attract numerous insects. Many, thick, round rose hips are the result of the many visits in the fall", the Germany breeding company says.

It is not Rosen Tantaus first rose that has been awarded with the ADR quality mark. Also, Perennial Domino in 2023, Dornburger Schlossrose in 2022, and Divina and Maxim in 2019 and more received this quality mark, click here to see all Rosen Tantau's ADR roses.

Each year, promising Tantau breedings are entered for ADR testing. Over a period of 3 years, up to 50 registered new varieties from a wide variety of rose breeders are evaluated in 12 test gardens located throughout Germany. In the process, they have to pass the critical eyes of the examiners 6 times a year.

ADR examination
The most important aspect is the resistance to foliar diseases such as powdery mildew and star rust, as no fungicides are used at the locations during the test period. Likewise, winter hardiness, flowering duration, flower color retention and weather resistance are assessed and evaluated according to a defined scoring scheme. In this way, the ADR quality certificate enables end consumers and decision-makers for public green spaces to choose from healthy and attractive roses that require little maintenance. Currently, the Tantau rose assortment includes 24 varieties in the various rose groups of miniature and groundcover roses, bedding roses, hybrid tea roses, shrub roses and climbing roses.
