Americold closes 's-Gravenzande branch

Company Americold is going to close its Westland branch. This will bring an end to the refrigeration company in 's-Gravenzande after 95 years, which was known for many years as ADB Cool Company. The company, owned by the De Bruijn family, was acquired in 2015 by Agro Merchants Group, which later continued under the current name Americold. The complex has a total capacity of 15,000 pallet spaces and 150,000 m3 of cooling and freezing space, divided over 48 cooling and freezing cells.

A spokesperson for the American company at WOS stated that the decision was made after a "careful assessment of our business operations". Employees and customers have been informed and an exact closing date and transition period are still being discussed. The company employed approximately fifty employees. The company therefore remains vague about the exact reasons. It is known that Americold has suffered significant losses worldwide in recent years. In 2021 there was a loss of more than 30 million dollars, a year later it was more than 19 million dollars and last year even a loss of more than 300 million dollars.
