Vietnam: Growers share solutions with each other ahead of Lunar New Year

With a cultivated area of about 10.000 hectares, flowers are the main crop, playing an important role in the socio-economic development plan of Lam Dong province. At present, to prepare for the most important crop of the year - the flower crop for Tet, gardeners here have planted seeds and stepped up care and pest prevention.

Sharing about the situation this year, Mr. Mai Trong Hoa, a chrysanthemum farmer in Ward 8, Da Lat City, said: "I have planted the Tet crop for more than a month. The basic care is the same as other crops this year, but the price is better during Tet, so I also take better care of it. Not to mention that this year the weather is erratic, chrysanthemums are susceptible to mold, green worms, thrips, etc., affecting the productivity of the flowers."

Concerned about the unpredictable weather when taking care of flowers for Tet, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh, who owns 1 hectare of roses in Da Lat City, said: "This weather makes roses susceptible to many diseases at the same time, such as powdery mildew, mildew, black spots, root rot, etc. Therefore, during this important period, I visit the garden every day to detect early signs of disease and take timely measures."
