United Selections celebrates anniversary at IFTF

10 years of Jumilia

During the recent International Floriculture Trade Fair (IFTF), United Selections celebrated a significant milestone: the 10-year anniversary of their rose variety, Jumilia. In honor of this special occasion, United Selections brought together stakeholders, press, media, and growers from around the world to commemorate a decade of Jumilia's journey "from a single seedling to a global floral favorite." A custom-made Jumilia cake and a beautifully designed anniversary logo set the scene for the festivities.

Peter Schrama, Natasja Mironova, and Lars Schalkers at IFTF 2024.

"Over the past ten years, Jumilia has grown to be one of the most cherished bicolor rose varieties in the floriculture industry", says Peter Schrama, Commercial Manager of United Selections. "Known for its striking pink and white coloration and its impressive vase life of up to three weeks, Jumilia has captured markets across continents. Its journey began with a single seed and has blossomed into a world-renowned variety cultivated in regions spanning Africa, Europe, and Asia, including China, Korea, and Japan."

"Jumilia stands as one of the top varieties in its segment, perhaps even the best," he continues. "Its resilience and vibrant color have made it a staple for growers and florists alike, and it's truly a joy to see how far it has come in these ten years."

According to Schrama, this celebration would not have been possible without the invaluable support of several partners. "Special thanks go to Sobolj/Flowers Experience and Natasja Mironova, who have worked alongside United Selections to develop and execute innovative marketing projects that highlight Jumilia's beauty and strength."

Jelle Posthumus and Dick van Raamsdonk

At United Selections, they are also grateful to Jemi Bloemenwinkel from Amsterdam, who crafted ten exquisite Jumilia bouquets that were shared with industry influencers, including HPP director Dick van Raamsdonk, in recognition of his role in organizing this year's IFTF show. "Additionally, our heartfelt thanks go to Koen Meewisse, the owner of JK Rosa, for providing the high-quality Jumilia flowers that we were able to share with guests during the event."

The success of Jumilia is also a testament to the skill and dedication of its breeders. United Selections honors the vision of Theo Segers and Paul de Bruin, the original creators of this exceptional rose. Their work, along with Paul's continued breeding efforts, ensures that United Selections will bring forward new varieties that captivate and inspire.

"The anniversary of Jumilia is not just a celebration of a rose but a tribute to the partnerships, dedication, and passion that have nurtured its journey."
