NL: Westland approves first on-site housing for migrant workers: Arcadia Chrysanthemums leads the way

For the first time, Westland municipality has issued a permit for housing migrant workers on the property of a grower. And Arcadia Chrysanthemums leads the way. Responsible alderman Peter Valstar spoke of "a milestone" this summer. Meanwhile, the construction of the chalets has started, Arcadia Chrysanthemums shared on social media by photos.

They expect to be ready by early 2025. At Arcadia Chrysanthemums, they think housing on their property is important because 'a nice place to live does a lot for people'. In addition, they list:

  • 'On our property, we are close by. We can help or step in where needed and that keeps things calm
  • Our people don't have to go by car, which is good for the environment
  • Because we provide housing for our people here, it takes the pressure off the village center
