India: 'Flower vendors cash in on election season'

Flower vendors are raking in good moolah this poll season. Ahead of results on Nov 23, many in the city are busy preparing for a bulk supply of garlands and bouquets anticipating a further surge in demand, irrespective of who wins and forms the govt.

According to traders, flowers such as marigolds and roses are in high demand, with campaign teams buying bulk quantities for decorative purposes. Local florists also stated that marigolds, chrysanthemums, and jasmine are much sought after.

Sukhen Das, a flower shop owner in Namkum, said, "We are preparing for the election and awaiting orders for the counting day. During this election season, we've seen a huge increase in profit compared to regular days with the surge in sales. Marigolds are the top choice for decoration at election booths. Their affordability and availability have made them a popular choice for election events."
