In Pesillo (Olmedo, Ecuador) we find the Alisroses farm. At an altitude of 3200 m above sea level this company produces and dyes roses for florists, wholesalers, and importers. "Thanks to our strategic location in the Andes highlands our roses have bright colors, great head sizes and amazing foliage," states Diego Acosta, CEO at Alisroses. According to him, this year was a special one that rose their floral business to new heights. Recently they became members of the Wholesale Florist & Florist Supplier Association (WFFSA) and made their debut at ExpoFlor Ecuador.
Challenges and rewards
According to Acosta, this year's season was challenging but rewarding. "The weather conditions were difficult, causing a decrease in production, however we also welcomed several new customers. Moreover, we've seen a growing demand for unique, dyed roses and sustainable floral products." With regard to this attention for sustainability, he is glad to have joined the WFFSA earlier this month. "We believe in the importance of global networks and the value of being part of a community that promotes best practices, sustainability, and innovation in the floral industry."
Meeting market demand
Acosta further highlights that Alisroses seeks to meet the evolving demands of the global floral market. "Our team is making efforts to stay ahead of trends, offering innovative and high-quality roses while contributing positively to the industry's evolution." He adds: "Attending ExpoFlor Ecuador allowed us to better understand market trends and customer preferences. It helped us to establish new partnerships with suppliers and distributors which will help us to expand our reach. We expect to continue growing and expanding both in FOB and CIF operations in international markets." And in the coming months they will be busy with processing orders for the holiday season. "We anticipate high demand for our dyed roses. We expect it to be a great season," he concludes.
