Third edition Plant Empowerment course brings new insights to Canada

From 19 to 22 November, the Plant Empowerment team brought together the horticulture industry in Canada, British Columbia, for a three-day course. The event welcomed more than 90 growers and horticulture professionals from Canada and North America. Participants deepened their understanding of the Plant Empowerment philosophy, and its practical applications, and shared new insights. The event was organized in collaboration with the 12 member partners and several Canadian associations including the BC Growers Association, the UFGCA, and the BCLNA.

Event highlights
Upon arrival, a day before the start of the course, trainers and ornamental horticulture participants visited two ornamental horticulture companies, Rainbow Greenhouses Inc. and Qualitree. This visit provided real-life insights into the challenges faced by ornamental growers. These insights allowed the training to be even more focused on the participants' needs. Moreover, the day provided a great opportunity for networking and exchanging knowledge and experiences.

This year marked the third edition of the Plant Empowerment course, welcoming both new and returning participants. The course was spread over three days, The first day was aimed at growers of all crops, with several general sessions taking place that were relevant to both vegetable and ornamental crop participants. The second day focused entirely on vegetable crops, while the third day was focused on ornamental crops.

During the second and third days, participants followed a personalized program, choosing from a wide range of breakout sessions. Topics ranged from data-driven cultivation, and different approaches to disease and pest management, to exploring root environments, summer climates, and more. In addition, one-on-one sessions with consultants were available, where participants could further deepen their knowledge and discuss specific questions.

Participant review: "It was great to see a team of experts coming together, sharing insights on all kinds of topics within philosophy. The consultants have all the knowledge and experience to help growers and other horticulture professionals apply the principles. In addition, the event was incredibly well organized by the Plant Empowerment team. I will be back at the next edition of the course here in BC, Canada."
