New research from florist company Arena Flowers has revealed the floral trends for 2025, with snapdragons, peonies, tulips, and pink roses all showing big leaps in online interest.
With the year drawing to a close, the team at Arena Flowers has analyzed two years' worth of Google search data to reveal which stems are capturing the interest of flower lovers around the globe, as well as which blooms are trending in different individual major cities.
Arena Flowers: "Looking at global online searches, the flowers to knock off the top spot are peonies, with a 175% increase in online searches for the fluffy herbaceous perennial. Worldwide, snapdragons have seen a 123% increase in online search demand, placing them fourth in the global rankings. However, searches for 'snapdragon' or 'antirrhinum majus' came out as the top trending flower in over half of the major cities that were analyzed in the study; snapdragons came out as the top trending flower in the likes of New York, London, Berlin, Sydney, and Abu Dhabi.
"When it comes to the UK specifically, most of the major cities follow the global trend with snapdragons coming out top in the likes of London, Edinburgh, Belfast, Liverpool, Cardiff, Manchester, and more. There are only three UK cities of the twenty cities included in the research that buck the snapdragon trend; Oxford, where the hibiscus flower is trending; Leeds where gypsophila is trending, and Brighton whose top trending flower is the stargazer lily."
Other popular stems that the research predicts will be in big in 2025 are tulips and pink roses. Overall, the search interest for tulips jumped up over 127%, with particular interest being shown in blue-colored tulips and in Jerusalem tulips; Jerusalem tulips were the second top trending flower in New York and Los Angeles. Pink roses saw a big leap in interest in Buenos Aires, and also featured in the top ten trending flowers for Sydney, Mexico City, and Sri Lanka's Colombo.
Hydrangeas are also predicted to stay popular, with around a 50% rise in demand for green, red, and runaway bride stems. And ever-popular floral species such as Gypsophila, daisies, and lilies were also present in the top 20 global trending flowers.
Ginny Henry, Creative Lead at Arena Flowers, shares her take on the research: "Peonies continue to grow in popularity – at their peak this year, peonies made up 75% more of our sales than they did the year before, and we still can't get enough of them. Search data over the last year suggests that these stunning, romantic blooms will continue to be big news in 2025, alongside delicate cottagecore favorites of pink roses and snapdragons. For us, it's interesting to see snapdragons up among the world's trending flowers. They're a gorgeous addition to many bouquets, where their unique shape and array of colors provides texture and depth - and on a symbolic level they represent strength, grace, and resilience, making them a perfect stem to gift"
Ginny also added her personal predictions for flower trends next year: "I'm predicting in 2025 that alongside peonies and snapdragons, the public will also see the beauty in carnations and pinks. These nostalgic blooms are starting to have a real fashion moment, they were massive at Simone Rocha, and I can see their delicate petals and pastel colors appealing to a more mainstream audience as an evolution of our love for peonies and pink roses. Carnations and pinks are what I expect to see filling up social media feeds and flower displays in early 2025 – the perfect sign of spring."
