South Holland's electricity grid has continued to fill up (in Dutch) for large-scale consumers. Greenhouse horticulture in the Westland spared region is not affected thanks to early investments. Nicolette van Veen of Westland Infra explained to WOS (in Dutch) that the extra capacity in the region was mainly realized to support the greenhouse horticulture sector.
"We did have congestion on the grid when many companies got combined heat and power (CHP) plants. We invested extra in that and expanded the grid. We are now reaping the benefits of that," a spokesperson told the AD (in Dutch).
Even in the Westland region, however, space is not unlimited. Companies that want to ibecome more sustainability may face restrictions in the future.
