Yusif Khalilov on his million euro bouquet:

“The elements that make this bouquet so expensive are the diamonds and the white gold leaves”

"My work is rooted in emotion, with each bouquet or installation crafted to inspire joy and wonder. I strive to use flowers in a surreal way, transforming them into pieces of art that challenge traditional perceptions and evoke a sense of magic and imagination," says Yusif Khalilov, a florist and art designer. To this end, he recently created a bouquet which is estimated to be worth a million euros.

The arrangement consists of 'Sofie' and 'Wedding Invite' roses, 'Chocolate Brown Vanda' orchids, deep purple calla lilies, and bear grass. Additionally, it is adorned with diamonds and white gold leaves, which according to Khalilov mainly add to the value of this floral piece.

Pushing the limits
With creating this bouquet, Khalilov wanted to push the limits. "I've created very expensive bouquets in the past, but this time, I wanted to push beyond what I or anyone else could imagine. It's not just a bouquet; it's an experience, a statement piece. It demonstrates that florals can transcend their traditional roles and become symbols of opulence and exclusivity," he explains.

He adds that the creation process took months of "meticulous" planning. He started by selecting diamonds that matched the vision of the bouquet. Later on, he conducted two test installations. "They were almost rehearsals. They helped me to determine the best way to place the diamonds securely on the flowers." Khalilov also finds that choosing the right colors and flowers was a critical step to achieving the desired harmony and luxury. "One of the biggest challenges was attaching the white gold—it required precision and careful handling to seamlessly integrate it into the design."

Trendy and timeless
Apart from artistic aspirations, Khalilov also sought to reflect a growing industry. He finds that flowers are increasingly becoming integral to luxury branding and lifestyle experiences. "There's a demand for bespoke, high-end floral designs that go beyond decoration and become works of art in themselves. This bouquet is my response to that demand, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in floral art."

That said, he believes that this bouquet will be also relevant and beautiful in the future. "I wanted to create a design that feels timeless and classy. I allowed myself to imagine how this bouquet could stand the test of time as flowers and diamonds are both timeless symbols of beauty and luxury. "

So far, Khalilov is pleased with the response to his initiative. "It was incredible, everyone kept asking whether the diamonds were real. That curiosity and amazement showed the kind of impression this bouquet left. It was seen as something truly unbelievable, almost surreal, which is exactly the reaction I hoped for," he concludes.
