US: UF/IFAS to share impact of Hurricane Milton on agriculture

UF/IFAS Economic Impact Analysis Program director Christa Court will present the results of an EIAP report on Hurricane Milton. The report is based on responses to surveys agricultural producers filled out following the hurricane, a Category 3 storm that came ashore near Siesta Key on Oct. 9. The EIAP team's report reveals an early picture of how agriculture in Florida was affected by the hurricane.

Producers were asked to assess and share the damages and agricultural losses they experienced due to the storm. Based on this information, EIAP economists determined which areas of the state were most impacted and calculated the estimated financial burden to the industry.

In addition to outlining the survey results, Court will answer questions from members of the media.

When: Friday, Dec. 20, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
