Farm-ng is optimizing growing practices from planting seeds to harvesting crops with its Amiga robot—a modular, scalable, intelligent robotic platform designed to meet growers' diverse needs. The Amiga's adaptability allows it to take on various applications, offering growers a cost-effective, electric, AI-powered solution.
Farm-ng focuses on open, accessible technology. It aims to make farming more sustainable while reducing inputs and empowering growers to pursue more regenerative practices. "By using the power of robotics and AI, we aim to support growers in developing a more efficient and sustainable future for agriculture," says Leanne Gluck, head of marketing and communications at Farm-ng.
Meeting growers where they are
"Central to our Amiga platform is its mobile base - a compact and efficient foundation designed for customization. Powered by four 250-watt brushless DC motors, the base delivers high torque and mobility, making it ideal for small—and medium-scale farming operations," Leanne explains.
"The mobile base is very versatile," she adds. "It features adjustable track widths ranging from 40 to 80 inches, customizable height clearances, and modifiable wheelbases. This flexibility allows the Amiga to navigate tight spaces in greenhouses or handle varied terrains in open fields."
"Additionally, the Amiga is designed to work seamlessly with standard 3-point hitch implements such as seeders, cultivators, and rakes, as well as tow hitch implements like sprayers and trailers," Leanne says. Powered by a 44V lithium-ion battery system with an expandable energy capacity from 1440 Wh to 2880 Wh, the platform can support a full day of work, further enhancing its utility for growers.
"The power and adaptability of the mobile base give farmers the freedom to efficiently handle tasks like spraying, hauling, or transporting materials."

Adding AI: the Intelligence Kit
"One of the defining features of the Amiga platform is its Intelligence Kit, a control unit powered by NVIDIA's Jetson compute platform," Leanne elaborates. "This AI-enabled system brings real-time decision-making and data processing capabilities directly to the field."
Equipped with smart cameras and sensors, the Intelligence Kit allows the Amiga to gather data on plant health, pest activity, and environmental conditions. "By analyzing their data on-site, growers can gain actionable insights that improve crop management," Leanne says. "This enables farmers to monitor crop health, optimize input usage, and make more informed decisions."

Supporting greenhouse growers
"We have seen the Amiga platform prove to be a valuable asset for greenhouse growers, where precision and adaptability are fundamental," Leanne notes.
The Amiga's compact design and adjustable features enable it to navigate narrow aisles and handle specialized tasks, making it ideal for crops that demand detailed care. "Greenhouse grower customers can also take advantage of a suite of applications and attachments on the Amiga, including compost spreaders, compost tea sprayers, bug vacuums, weeders, and seeders."
Farm-ng's collaboration with Jacobs Del Cabo, a large-scale chive grower, is an example of the platform's impact.
"When we seed with the Amiga, everything falls perfectly on the track," notes a representative from Jacobs Del Cabo. "The Amiga follows the furrow, and the rows are straight. Then, you come back and use the little cultivating tools, which fit right between the plants—it works perfectly."
Leanne describes that the platform's precise seed placement not only reduces waste but also ensures that downstream tools, like cultivators or finger weeders, operate seamlessly. "These tools can work closely between plants, enhancing the efficiency of weeding and other maintenance tasks."

The electric advantage
As an all-electric platform, the Amiga supports the transition to more sustainable farming practices. "By replacing traditional fossil fuel-based equipment with energy-efficient alternatives, we are helping growers reduce their carbon footprint while improving operational efficiency," Leanne says.
"We're committed to providing electric solutions that are not only better for the environment but also more cost-effective for growers," Brendan Dowdle, the COO of farm-ng emphasizes.
The Amiga Max and global expansion
Farm-ng is preparing to launch the Amiga Max in Q2 this year, a more powerful version of the platform designed for heavy-duty tasks such as bulk material hauling. "The Amiga Max will offer increased power, higher payload capacity, and advanced safety features, making it ideal for growers with more demanding needs," says Brendan.
In addition to product innovation, the company is expanding its reach into Europe and Australia, where sustainable farming solutions are in high demand. "Our mission is to support growers worldwide and drive agricultural innovation with open, adaptable, and accessible robotics and AI solutions," he shares.
