300,000 tulips from Holland will soon take over North Texas town

One North Texas town will soon transform into a whimsical floral wonderland.

From Feb. 28 to March 16, Getzendaner Park in Waxahachie, Texas will transform into a tulip-filled springtime celebration called Tulipalooza. Founded in 2018 by Waxahachie resident John Poston, Tulipalooza showcases hundreds of thousands of Dutch tulips.

This beloved North Texas tradition features over 300,000 tulips and daffodils from Holland, transforming Getzendaner Park into a sea of color. To ensure the flower fields are bright and bountiful, the tulip bulbs and daffodils are imported and planted at the park in December.

"Tulipalooza brings a touch of Holland's tulip magic to Texas," said Bill Van Houten, the festival's resident tulip expert. "Each bulb is carefully chosen and prepared to bloom here, sharing a piece of Dutch heritage with the community."
