US: Flower sales continue to soar as Valentine's Day looms

Valentine's Day is one of the busiest weeks of the year for local floral shops, but the work begins long before February.

Flowers by Jerry has had three generations of owners who bring decades of experience to prepare for the shop's busiest day. It hopes to be a one-stop shop for all Valentine's Day needs.

"I can't give you a specific number, but hundreds and hundreds of bouquets that go out over the course of the week for Valentine's Day," said Jessica Pearson, co-owner of Flowers by Jerry. "Definitely, Friday is our busiest day, and we do a lot of preparation for that, but there are people that send and will come pick up Valentine's bouquets all week long."

Pearson is the third generation owner after her parents and grandparents. Currently, she co-owns the business with her husband Dylan. Her sister, Lydia, helps out as the operations manager. With all the experience in the family, they have developed a system for the holidays that works.
