Cacti Youngplants has recently signed an agreement to acquire the intellectual property rights for Haworthia Alba ('African Albino') and Aloe Cosmo ('Green Pearl') from TH Primeur B.V., from Nieuwveen, The Netherlands.
TH Primeur owner Ton van der Hoorn is a well known breeder, propagator, and grower of succulents, has a long-standing history in the industry. His expertise primarily focuses on Aloe, Crassula, and Haworthia species. Among these, Haworthia Alba and Aloe Cosmo are some of the most recognizable succulent varieties sold under their names in the wholesale market.
Aloe Cosmo will be distributed via multiple growers in USA and Canada. Western Cactus (Vista, CA) is appointed as the exclusive producer and distributor of Haworthia Alba for the North American market.
Thomas Britsch: "The unique characteristics of Haworthia Alba, with its intense white leaf pattern, is a great addition to our product offering. Western Cactus and Cacti Youngplants will work side by side to increase available numbers for the American and Canadian market."
Ubink Handelskwekerij is the exclusive distributor of both Haworthia Alba and Aloe Cosmo for the European market. Ubink is a well-known name in the world of succulents. With production facilities in the Netherlands and the Canary Islands, a wide range of succulents and cacti are cultivated in various pot sizes.
Owner and director Gert Ubink "The addition of Haworthia Alba and Aloe Cosmo further completes the assortment for both the professional trade as well as wholesale and retail."
Production of the varieties will transition in the next months to Cacti Youngplants partner farm Zimflora P/L in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe's climate is ideal for growing succulents due to its warm temperatures and low rainfall. The country experiences long periods of sunshine, which is essential for succulent plant growth. The natural arid and semi-arid conditions mimic the native habitats of many succulent species, allowing them to thrive. This combination of factors makes Zimbabwe a perfect location for cultivating these resilient plants.
