US: Color Orchids acquires Floricultura Pacific

Color Orchids, Inc. has acquired Floricultura Pacific, Inc., a Salinas-based grower focused on pre-finished orchids for the North American market. Floricultura Pacific was previously owned by Floricultura Netherlands, one of the largest and oldest Dutch orchid breeders in the world, with operations in China, India, the Netherlands, Poland, and Brazil.

This acquisition will make Color Orchids the largest orchid supplier in the United States with a total of 25 acres of orchid propagation in three locations across the United States.

The acquisition was confirmed by Ben Van Wingerden, owner and CEO of Color Orchid.

"Color Orchids has been working very closely with Floricultura Pacific for years. This move makes us a completely vertically integrated company with significantly more capacity to expand our assortment and offerings. The only thing that will change for our customers will be increased quality, service, and opportunities," says Ben Van Wingerden.

Ben Van Wingerden will remain in his position as CEO of Color Orchids, and the management team at Floricultura Pacific will remain in place.
