As the largest cut flower production area in China, Yunnan's cut flowers have been shipped to many places. With the improved quality, more flowers have been exported. In this article, Daniel Bernal from Shanghai Nifa International Trading Co.Ltd shared his opinions about exportation.
Shanghai Nifa International Trading Co.Ltd was set up in 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic began. At that time, the main job was to import high-quality flowers to China. Since 2023, they started to export flowers from Yunnan too.
"We have set up an office in Kunming and have local partners to control flower quality. I am based in Colombia and am responsible for selling. Yunnan's flower quality is excellent, which puts big pressure on imported ones. Only premium imported flowers, such as Ecuadorian roses, can find market space for premium events. It has a long stem and a big head, which have strong advantages. However, this year, Ecuador faced excessive rainfall and a lack of sunlight, which has led to some supply challenges," said Daniel Bernal.
"We export to many countries. The price in the United States is very stable. In China, price fluctuation is normal, especially during the period of festivals. We need to control the price and work in a consistent way."
Cut roses are Shanghai Nifa International Trading's main products, and the exportation from Yunnan to the Middle East and Kazakhstan grows quickly. The company is engaged in postharvest management a lot for the Kazakhstan market. In this place, cooling houses, and logistics still need many improvements.
