China: Yunnan court rules in favor of Selecta in trademark case

On March 1, 2025, the Senior Court of Yunnan Province ruled in favor of Selecta Flowers Technology Hangzhou Co., Ltd.(Selecta one China) in a trademark infringement case against Songming Songyang Hongyang Flower Plantation. The court found that Hongyang Plantation used Selecta's registered trademarks on packaging for unlicensed "Oscar" carnation products, constituting trademark infringement.

"As the 1st trademark case in ornamental horticultural industry in China, it became a milestone not only for us but also for the whole industry. The wining of breeder/ trademark-holder encouraged us to move forward on China market development.
