Ethiopia gears up to host the 9th HortiFlora Expo in Addis Ababa

Ethiopia is set to welcome the world to the 9th edition of HortiFlora Ethiopia from April 1–3, 2025, at Millennium Hall in Addis Ababa. Spanning 10,000 square meters of exhibition space, this event will bring together industry leaders, investors, buyers, input suppliers, logistics service providers, standard service providers, sourcing management and stakeholders from across the globe.

Organized by HPP Exhibitions in collaboration with the Ethiopian Horticulture Producers Exporters Association (EHPEA), HortiFlora Expo is a strategic platform designed to showcase Ethiopia's booming horticulture sector, attract investment, and foster business development while emphasizing sustainability and innovation.

Ethiopia's horticulture export industry plays a crucial role in driving the national economy by significantly contributing to various key areas. One of the primary impacts is job creation, with the industry providing over 200,000 direct jobs and numerous indirect employment opportunities. This has a particularly strong effect on women and youth employment, empowering these groups and enhancing their economic participation. Additionally, the industry is a major contributor to foreign exchange earnings, ranking among Ethiopia's top three export revenue generators and bringing in hundreds of millions of dollars annually. This financial influx supports the country's economic stability and growth.

Beyond its economic contributions, the horticulture export industry also bolsters food security and supply chains by enhancing both local and global agricultural trade networks. This integration supports the availability and distribution of agricultural products, benefiting both local and international markets. Furthermore, the industry boosts local economies by supporting businesses and communities connected to the horticulture sector, fostering economic development at the grassroots level. On a global scale, Ethiopia's horticulture industry enhances the country's competitiveness, as it ranks among the world's top five exporters of cut flowers, showcasing its capability and reputation in the international market.

HortiFlora Expo 2025 serves as a crucial platform to showcase Ethiopia's horticulture sector, attract investment, and strengthen international partnerships.

With 133 international exhibitors confirmed and key stakeholders participating, the 2025 edition promises to be bigger, better, and more impactful than ever before.

To foster industry knowledge and collaboration, the upcoming expo will host a series of insightful panel discussions that delve into critical topics shaping the horticulture sector. One of the key discussions, "Horticulture Investment Opportunities in Ethiopia and Incentives for Investors," is scheduled for April 1, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Axum Hall. This session aims to explore the potential for investment in Ethiopia's horticulture industry and the incentives available to investors. Another important discussion, "The Need for Smart & Efficient Agro-Logistics in Ensuring Competitiveness," will take place on April 2, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, also at Axum Hall, focusing on the logistics necessary to maintain a competitive edge in the sector. Concurrently, at the EHPEA Booth A5.04, the panel on "Emerging EU Regulations: Potential Impacts on the Floriculture Industry" will address the latest regulatory changes and their implications for the floriculture industry.

The expo continues with sessions on global market trends and labor development.
