US (TN): Tulip season starts for Lorenzen Farm

The quality of the air may be bad in Chattanooga, but the quality of the tulips over at Lorenzen Farm in Dayton is in peak condition.

Owned by Nathan and Kristen Lorenzen, Lorenzen Farm uses sustainable agriculture practices to keep the soil healthy, such as crop rotation and composting. The couple does most of their planting by hand in the fall season, and opens their door each spring to sell what grows in the fields.

"The best part of farming is the connection I feel with the community and the land. Farming is hard work but also incredibly rewarding!" says Kristen Lorenzen.

Lorenzen Farm is having its opening weekend event this Saturday, March 29. There is a $5 admission fee, although children under 5 years old can enjoy the tulips for free. Each tulip will cost $2.
