Ed de Groot, 247Flowers.online, on Flora Expo Astana

"We're bringing out the flowers again at the expo in Kazakhstan"

It's that time again: from Tuesday, April 8, to Thursday, April 10, the international flower and plant trade fair Flora Expo Astana will take place in Kazakhstan. For the fourth year in a row, Ed de Groot from 247Flowers.online will be attending. The market in Kazakhstan continues to develop, attracting more and more international players from the floriculture sector.

Growing interest in flowers
According to Ed, Kazakhstan is a logical choice. "The demand for flowers is increasing every year, and we see particularly high interest in Vip Roses and exclusive flowers. At 247Flowers.online, we focus on importing wholesalers, supplying directly to international wholesalers. This allows us to offer prices without commission or overhead costs. We deliver from Naaldwijk, Aalsmeer, and Rijnsburg in the Netherlands. Everything that arrives is shipped out the same day—we don't keep stock. The logistics and processing of the flowers are outsourced to experienced organizations. Wholesalers can choose how their flowers and plants are packaged. Our deliveries are direct, transparent, and fast, leading to lower costs and a fresher product," Ed explains. "Our company is a great fit for the Kazakhstani market, where quality and speed are becoming increasingly important."

Central Location
The trade fair in Kazakhstan attracts more exhibitors and visitors each year, partly due to its central location. The country serves as a key link between European and Asian markets. "Last year, for example, there were quite a few visitors from Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Russia," he says.

Kazakhstan has a population of 19.6 million people. Most flowers are consumed in the country's four major cities. Like many other Eastern European countries, Kazakhstan has a strong demand for flowers on holidays such as International Women's Day, name days, and the first and last school days of the year.

Exploring Opportunities
Ed sees the trade fair as an opportunity to explore the market further and establish new connections. "By being here, we stay up to date with trends and can anticipate changes. It's fascinating to see how this market is evolving."

This weekend, he will board the plane—the flowers are already on their way.
