In Kunming, China, Debets Schalke has recently commenced construction on a high-tech greenhouse project for Kunming Anthura Horticulture Co. Ltd. The expansion involves 2 hectares of greenhouse space and a large service area, which will be connected to the existing greenhouse complex. Initially, the new greenhouse will be used for cultivating young Anthuriums, with completion scheduled for the end of 2025.
An automated mobile container system with an ebb and flow irrigation setup will be installed to ensure an efficient logistics process. This system will be integrated with the existing water and UV recirculation installations. The project also involves investing in heat pumps to provide a sustainable energy supply, aligning with the company's environmental goals.

"We are combining our Dutch expertise with efficient local execution. Our team in the Netherlands is responsible for the entire engineering process, ensuring that the greenhouse and systems are perfectly integrated and seamlessly connected to the existing facilities. Key components will be supplied from the Netherlands, while other materials will be sourced locally under our supervision and strict quality control," says Dave Debets, one of the directors of Debets Schalke. "This approach reduces purchasing and transportation costs without compromising on quality. The construction and local sourcing will be carried out in collaboration with a Chinese partner under our guidance."
